Question:

What are some workouts i can do to burn alot of calories in a swimming pool?

i am 135 5'8 and 15

my pool is now open

and i would love to know some things i can do other then just swimming lenghts to give me a good work out.

normally i am a runner but i have shin splints so my insturctor taught me a new way to run, and for now just to do low impact things like swimming and bikeing.

so if you could tell me a nice workout i could do in my pool that would be SWEET !

  1. Go into water where you can almost touch, but not quite. Which is how you tread water. You put your legs in a bicycle pose and petal like you would on a bike, while moving your arms back and forth from both sides.

    Just plain swimming laps though is the best excersize. The Front Crawl, the Back Stroke, anything like that is the best, but you said you didn't want that so let's just forget this part of my answer.

  2. Treading is one of the best things you could do.

    Another is butterfly, which burns the most calories out of all the strokes if you do it right, but it tires you out more

  3. using either just your arms (pull) or your legs (kick) to get across is a good workout

    also treading water is great, it's working your entire body and it's just like riding a bike in the water!

    diving is also a good workout but shouldn't be the only thing that you do
