  1. Cheese, crackers, romaine lettuce, corn, peas, broccoli, cauliflower, dog biscuits, and most other fruits and veggies, just read the below:

Do not feed potatoes, rhubarb or tomato leaves, as these are poisonous. Also ensure your gerbils have a constant supply of fresh water. This should be provided in a free access water bottle fixed inside the tank as water bowls will be tipped over and buried.

Also, if you feed them moist food, such as fruits, you have to watch them and make sure that they eat it all within about a day. If not, you should remove it so that it does not rot or become moldy. Also, make sure that you do not feed them so many fruits and veggies and other snacks so that they will not eat their dry food, dry food is important, too.

  2. anything like cereals, crackers, dried fruit or yogurt bites

just nothing citrusy, that'll kill it

  3. there are plenty of treats to give your gerbil but give them treats in moderation.  you can give them fruits or vegetables like carrots or apples.  my gerbils even enjoy a bit of lettuce.  don't give them too many vegetables because it could give them diarrhea.

if they don't eat them within a day take them out of the cage.  they tend to bury their food and they may start to rot so you have to be careful with fruits and vegetables.  make sure they are thoroughly washed as well.

my gerbils love having plain popcorn.  they also love cheerios.  you can give them a little cheese too.  my gerbils tried it but didn't like it very much.  they love unsalted pumpkin and sunflower seeds but since they are fattening don't give them too much.

i've heard you can give them crickets or meal worms but i never have done that.  it's a little to yucky for me.  they really love shelled peanuts.  they have fun breaking them open.

check out the link below for my info.

just remember everything in moderation.  if you give them too much they may not want their regular food as much and they may gain a lot of weight.

  4. carrots, appples, seeds, bread, muffins, and you could try like peanuts or something like that.

  5. yogurt drops, carrots, apples, seeds, beans, crackers, bread, muffins cut into 3" cubes smothered with creamcheese and sprinkled with seeds and peaces of chocolate for a cake!

  6. Below are the foods that I add into my gerbils' diet, either by giving them the food by hand or by mixing it in with the rest of their food.

    Apple – dried or fresh

    Carrot

    Banana – dried or fresh

    Cucumber

    Dried bread

Cheese (very small doses and as a treat!)

    Cooked pasta/rice

    Grapes

    Tomato

Cereals (low sugar, so shredded wheat is ok, all bran, porridge)

    Wild birdseed

    Dandelion leaves

Grass (make sure no toxins on it)

Dried Dog biscuits - for extra protein and variety in their food

    Millet seeds

    Walnuts

    Hazelnuts

    Almonds

    Broccoli

NB: only feed in moderation, as with humans a balanced diet is best

  7. Apples, Carrots, Chesse, Crackers, Watermelon, Celery, Broccoli, Strawberries, Blueberries, Raspberries, Noodles, Little pieces of chicken, Bananas. Any table-scrabs really.

  8. Good and Bad Treats for Gerbils

Your animal companions may also enjoy a few pieces of air-popped popcorn, small bits of whole-wheat bread and a nibble or two of scrambled egg every couple of days. We know that many caretakers treat their pets to sunflower seeds, but go easy on these, please. They're extremely high in fat, and can quickly lead to obesity. Topping the no-no list are alcohol, chocolate, sweets and sticky foods, such as toffee, that could cause your pets to choke.

What about treats that do double duty as interactive playthings? Chew on this! Small bits of dog biscuit and pieces of untreated tree branches will keep your gerbils' teeth worn down AND give them something fun to do. Do not offer them wood from cedar, apricot, cherry and peach trees, as they are toxic to your little fellows.
