What are somethings for a 12 year old girl to do during a really long car ride?

We are going back to Indiana and it is a 13 hour car ride and we have a 12 year old with us and a 17 year old and we are trying to find somethings for them to do?

I know all the answers talking about portable dvd's and hand held game systems are going to be more popular...but...

the best part  of long drives is getting to know your family again. We (my kids are 14 and 16) used our 3 day car ride to ask questions about each other, play games like who sees the most _____ ( we used bird species one day, reptiles another, different landscape views....whatever) per hour....

There are many things families can do, and dont forget to watch out the window as long trips give ample time to see things one may never see again.

Get a portable dvd player and a bunch of Disney movies and spare batteries.

read a book, watch a movie if you have a dvd player, sleep, music, games, magazines

They can make lanyards, read books, make friendship braclets, watch movies, do summer homework (if they have any), listen to music, play games (car games) the only thing that I can think of that you can do in one sitting and take 13 hours is painting.. but i don't think that works in a car. Buy a Nintendo DS, or a PSP.  There are boy and girl games on it.  And it takes headphones so you won't have to hear the sounds.

Also they could take some music like an iPod or other mp3 player.  (psp is also an mp3 player).

Or buy them some magazines that suit their interests.

A portable DVD player is also good.

well since your children are over the age of 10 im sure they whouldnt apreciate sing-alongs so use the suggestions above or you could be extreme and let tghem stay up all night so they can sleep in the car try to leave realy early like 4am i allways find it better when im a passanger at night

well a ds, psp or portable dvd player. Idk if they can read in a car. It just depneds on who you are but like i know i can't...anyway good luck
