  1. It depends upon the teaching assignment. When I taught elementary school grades K-6 and later grades 3-5, I was responsible for teaching the objectives on their individual IEPs. The IEPs were always written with grade level objectives addressing the specific needs indicated by evaluation. I pulled students out of the regular classroom and taught mostly reading, writing, and math depending on the areas in which the student qualified.

I also taught inclusion where I would go into regular classroom and teach writing or math in collaboration with the regular teacher.

Now I teach high school classes. I teach English, math, science, social studies, and vocational skills.

My other duties would be to schedule and conduct meetings at least once a year, assess student abilities, keep perfect paperwork, make frequent parent contacts, teach students to self-advocate, teach students about the laws that protect them, and make sure they are ready to transition to work or more education when they leave high school.

  2. they do nothing more than a REAL teacher
