Oh god... there is a spider in my room right now and I am really afraid of them so I took my pillow and blanket and am gonna sleep in my brothers room for now. I plan on cleaning my room so there is no dust or anything. What typically attracts spiders to go somewhere??

  1. Spiders are attracted to insects, which is what they eat. So if you can keep your room insect free thats the best bet. Which would include making sure its very clean of course, no food or anything laying about. Also don't keep your window open which allows bugs in.

Bottom line is though the cleaner the better to keep insects out, and if there are no insects you wont have any spiders...

  2. What you could do is get some citronella essential oil and dab some along your windowsills and doorways. Since spiders taste with their feet, they will get a nice taste of that when they walk in, which they seem to hate.

If this is a one time spotting of a spider, he could have just been traveling through on his way to find some dinner.  I am sure, if you keep a tidy room, he won't stick around.

  3. I have the same problem! I'm so scared. I get my pillow and run like h**l to sleep somewhere else, once I actually sleep in my bathroom! I've been reading and I've heard people putting "plain horse chesnuts" around the walls, I'm not sure what "horse chesnuts" are but, whatever gets the spider out of my room I'll do.
