What are staples made out of?

I'm wondering if staples are recycleable.

Metal, I guess. Why would you want to recycle staples anyway?

steel put one in water or put water on the paper its in you'll see in a day or two rust starting to show

Usually they are made of steel.  If you recycle tin cans just put used staples in them.  Don't expect to make much of a dent in the demand for iron ore.  Staples don't weigh much.
