  1. Stem changing verbs are verbs in which you can conjugate the verb into the following subjects: yo, tu, el/ella/ud./nosotros/as, ellos/as, ustedes. and in Spain you have the vosotros form.

All verbs are stem changing verbs. There are three kinds: ER, IR, and AR. AR are the most frequent.

    Ejemplo:

Hablar... the stem of hablar is "habl"

    hablo, hablas, habla, hablamos etc.

  2. They are the verbs which, when you conjugate them, change their stems.  Just like the name implies.

The stem changes in the 1st, 2nd, and 3d persons, singular, and 3d plural

    .

Also known as radical verbs and boot verbs.   The boot verb, because when you put the conjugation into a chart of singular on the left and plural on the right, then draw a circle around the forms that change, it looks like a boot.

    Dormir, Sentar, colgar, volver.

    Duermo etc.

    Siento, etc.

    Cuelgo, etc.

    Vuelvo, etc.
