What are stores/businesses/jobs that hire 16 year olds in NC?

the best place to work at  that age are local pharmacies like cvs or walmart, it's pretty easy. or if your town has any icecream parlors or candy shops (i know you said no food industry but thats fun!) thats all i can think of,... it all depends on whats in your  town

Many businesses will hire a sixteen year old if they have a position open.

Dress conservatively.

You must go from door to door and ask for work.

I know this is difficult but, it's really the best way.

Unfortunately in these economic times it is especially difficult because displaced adult workers are taking many of these positions normally associated with younger workers out of desperation for income.

Your competition will be strong.  But don't give up.  When you are turned away be sure to ask if they have any knowledge of other places you may try.
