What are surfing lessons like?

I've never taken one but seen them when i've been kicking it at mellow beachs after surfing.

goes like this:

1) They explain how to paddle and stand up while your on the beach. You do this on the board in the sand.

2) they explain to you how the wave breaks and where you wanna be to catch it.

3) they take you out (like i said, always a mellow beach with soft, rolling waves), and guide you on catching the wave. You do this several times before you feel comfortable enough to stand up. You'll take a lot of spills, but again, it's in a very gentle, safe beach break.

4) when you start getting it, they let you do your thing for a while and focus on whoevers having a little trouble.

5) they sometimes bring sandwichs.

Check out your local surf schoolsand surf shops if you wana do it, and see if you can talk to anybody whos taken the lessons to make sure you get a good instructor.

i have never taken one, my dad taught me how to surf when i was 5, but in the summer i help underprivlaged kids learn how to surf, it is fun if you are willing to learn how its done i highly reccomend surfing
