  1. There are a few forms of lupus so I am assuming you are talking about SLE. This is when the immune system sees everything in your body ads being a foreign and attacks it...sort of like the ultimate rejection....the body is rejecting itself. It is like having MS and Rheumatoid arthritis together is the best I can describe it. It effects the joints, muscles, kidneys liver heart CNS, liver (doesn't necessarily attack all of these)Joint pain  and muscle spasms, swelling, fatigue, rashes, being sun sensitive,  and fevering are real issues. One of the most telling symptoms with SLE is the "butterfly rash" on the face which goes down and across the nose. Blood tests will reveal a positive ANA but this only suggests that an autoimmune disease is poresent.
