  1. The most common is pain in the knee, especially when flexing, but depending on the type of tear, your knee could also "lock", because the tear gets into the joint. This can be extremely uncomfortable (read painful and annoying) because you literally can't unflex the knee until it clears.

    If you think thi sis your problem - see an orthopedist. He'll take x-rays, and may even request an MRI. Ones that's done, you'll have a definitive diagnosis.

    Such injuries can be repaired nowadays with arthroscopic surgery... not great fun, but quicker recovery, and far better than the open surgeries of the olden days. Be sure to follow your therapy regimen and do your exercises.
