What are tax-free corporate dividends and how do I apply for them?

Anyone know how I could apply for these and what the requirements are to apply for them?

  1. You need money to invest in a company that distributes its earnings to its investors via dividends.

    You don't 'apply' -- you have to buy shares or stocks. The requirement is that you have money.


  2. You don't have to apply to get tax free dividends.  

    All you have to do is purchase mutual funds whose assets consist of tax free state and local bonds, which are in themselves tax free of federal income taxes.

    I understand that there are somewhere in the order off 50 such funds listed on the major North American stock exchanges.
