  1. because if enough evil minded people vote together you can mandate a holocaust.

  2. 1.To prevent loss of Liberty .

    2. To help prevent racial and Fascistic ideas from contributing to a new type of Holocaust.

    3. So that through racism The U.S.A. does not become a Fascist Nation.

    4. So that Social Equality can be something other than lip service if a person who will back Social Equality can get in.

    5. So Anti-Immigrant Sentiment does not have the possibility to turn the U.S.A. into a Fascist Nation at a much later time a time when it could harden into something much worse.

6.To ensure  that through the vote democracy can protect the rights of all.

7.To get rid of poverty and promote justice by use of the vote to reduce wastefull Big Box Stores and introduce local food stores.

    8. To reduce chance of theft by making the food free at the store through a process of government payment and so by extent to employees  in the stores and farmers.

9.To oppose use of the military to get what could already be available at home.

    10. To vote is a means to get social justice of this sort.

  3. To help keep democracy alive, because if we don't vote, governments will soon stop asking us for our opinions and dictatorship isn't far around the corner.

  4. 1.  Our wonderful, participatory government with limited powers by Constitutional mandate, is, in the long run, only as good as the citzenship of its people.  When the great number of people participate by voting,  government tends to become disattached from the power that money and position have and more responsive to the "we the people" idea of its mission.   In its inperfection, the next generation is given the job to do better, make the government better for the we the people, and the job of reshaping it to the situation their generation faces.

Nine more would be surplus language.  This is my best answer.

  5. 1.  Because otherwise, democracy is a failed experiment.

    2.  Because our best hope is the Constitution.

    3.  Because if you're "not interested in politics", politics is definitely

         interested in you.

    4.  Because the more non-participants, the more corruption.

    5.  Because looking around the world, you can see what governments

turn into when people don't participate.

Your other five will have to be answered elsewhere.

  6. Ebent1 is exactly right, but you asked for 10 reasons, so let me give it a try.

    1) We live in a democracy and citizen participation is vital in a democracy

    2) Voting gives you an opportunity to shape policies that will either directly or indirectly affect you.

    3) Voting helps keeps the politicians from becoming totally corrupt.  When they know they have to keep the people happy or they'll be thrown out of office, they work harder toward keeping us happy.

    4) You get a red, white and blue sticker that says "Kiss me, I voted."

    5) Voting gives YOU a sense of participation in our democracy (I might be repeating #1, but there is a slight difference)

    6) When you vote, your children are more likely to vote, thus promoting the idea of democracy to the next generation.

    7) By voting you're making your voice heard.  You can vote for people who share your beliefs, you can vote for propositions you believe are important.  You also improve your chances of getting what you want from the government.

    8) You can vote a Democrat in

    9) You can vote a Republican out

    10) You can even vote for yourself if you decide to run for office
