  1. Depends, in part, on what your accommodations are.  Example, we stay in Mexican-owner/operated hotels (bungalows w/kitchenettes) and they (at least 2 where we have stayed) don't supply dish towels, dish soap, pool/beach towels, hairdryers.  You can buy just about anything in PV that you find you need.  There's a Wal-Mart and Sam's Club, as well as supermarkets and many, many small convenience stores.

Some areas have more bugs ("no-seeums") than others, so you might need repellent.

Good idea to have a credit card - we bring it for emergencies only, as we've encountered credit fraud in MX more than once in the past, and your hotel may require one.

Be sure you've had a tetanus shot in the recent past (the Mexican doctor we've seen there recommends every 5-7 years; he gave me and my husband tetanus shots last year and only charged for the serum - a total of about $7.50 US!)

Carry picture ID if you plan on cashing travellers checks.

Some people take their medication prescriptions in case they need to be re-filled down there.  We speak very  little Spanish so we take an English-Spanish book - the Mexican people seem to like it when we try to converse in their language.

Take comfortable shoes with at least some support if you're walking around town - the cobblestone roads can be a little tough.

Try the street tacos!  Take time to get away from the touristy parts/beaches to experience a little of the culture; the people are the best!

    10.  Don't bring a jacket (you won't need it in PV)

    11.  Hat

    13.  Pepto Bismol or Tums

    14.  Band-aids

    15.  Something to read on the beach and plane

    16.  Pesos if you can before you leave although they will take American dollars

If you are flying, do not take a cab from in front of the airport.  Take the pedestran bridge over the road and you will find additional taxis there at half the price.  Agree on a price BEFORE you get in.  Cabs are not metered there.  A fair price to downtown from the airport is $8 - $10 dollars.

Ride the buses while you are there.  5 pesos (50 cents) will take you anywhere in town.  The blue buses run from downtown along the malecon all the way to the airport and beyond.  The white buses run between downtown (Centro) and Zona Romantica (Old town).  Pay when you get on.

I always stay in Old town or El Centro when I'm there because I like to experience the real Mexico.  Plus it costs me under $35 a night.

If you need pesos while you are there, use one of the many ATM machines.  They dispense pesos.  DO NOT use a stand alone ATM.  Use one attached to a bank or better yet, one that is inside the bank.  The exchange rates at the ATM are very good.
