  3. Once again, it's hard to make a list of the top 10 out of so many great fights over the years.  Here are ten of mine in no particular order.

Ali vs Frazier 1 and 3.

    Norton vs Holmes

    Foreman vs Lyle

    Hagler vs Hearns

    Hearns vs Leonard 1

    Holyfield vs Tyson 1

    Pryor vs Arguello 1

    Ali vs Foreman

    Sanchez vs Nelson

  4. manny pacquiao and eric morales! yeah! (when manny won in the 3rd round)

mike tyson and evander hollyfield (when mike bit evander's ear)

muhhamad ali and trevor berbick (ali's last fight)

sorry... can give only as much...

  5. Thumbs up to Robert J, toughguy, Smith and Wesson and maurice,  all great answers.  The blogbaba's list reads like this:

    2.  Sugar Ray Robinson beat:  Henry Armstrong, Jake Lamotta, Carmine Basilio, Gene Fullmer, Carl "bobo" Olsen, Randy Turpin, Rocky Graziano, Kid Gavilin, Fritzie Zivic, and lost a war to Joey Maxim in epic fashion.  You don't become the best boxer of all time without fighting some of the best fights of all time, and these ten are just a few of the many hall of fame champions that Sugar Ray Robinson went to war with, pick any of these fights, and they could be considered the best, but I only list Ray Robinson once, because it wouldn't be fair to the rest of the boxing greats who belong on your list.

    3.  In order to make up for not listing this one as one of the ten best knockouts of all time on your previous question, I will put Ali/Frazier III "The Thriller in Manila" at number two, and for posterity, please consider the rest of Ali's brilliant career as included.  Again, out of consideration for the rest of boxing, Ali only gets one slot, although at least several more of his fights might qualify on the list.

    4. What "best boxing" list would be complete without Marciano/Walcott or Marciano/Charles, and of course Marciano/Moore on it.  As with the my first two on the list, I list any or all of these at number three, adding Rock's name more than once, wouldn't be fair to the rest of boxing's greats.

    5. Dempsey/Firpo ranks up there as another that is timeless, but as old school goes, it is in a class by itself, and in my opinion edges either Willard or the Tunney fights as Jack's best single fight.

    6. Leonard/Hearns I, cemented Ray Leonard's superstar status if there ever had been any doubts.  As with the other greats, Ray gets only # 5 in fairness to the rest of boxing, so this one has to include Leonard/Hagler, as much as I hated the decision, and any of the Leonard/Duran classics, you must admire Leonard's accomplishment's, he eclipsed three of boxing's greatest during his career, and whether or not you liked his style, it was clearly effective and superior to his contemporaries.

    7. Julio Cesar Chavez/Meldrick Taylor stands alone, with no need of further explanation to true boxing fans.

    8.  Holyfield/Bowe, pick one, it doesn't matter Evander Holyfield defined "Heart" and forever immortalized both he and Bowe in the annuls of boxing wars.  His many other epic encounters put Holyfield in the same catagory as the other greats, and out of respect for the rest of boxing, Evander's wars with Moorer, Lewis, Douglas and any others fall under the same restriction.  One number on the list per great.

    9.  Archie Moore's loss to Charley Burley is most likely the single greatest fight in truth eclipsed the rest of Archie's many hall of fame accomplishments through out his historic career.  It is a testimony to Burley more so than the great Archie Moore in that Burley beat Archie at Archie's peak.

    10. Aaron Pryor/Alexis Arquello, no further explanation is needed to true boxing fans who have seen this classic pair of fights.

    1. No ten best list would be valid without mention of Joe Louis, and clearly No fight in boxing history was bigger than KO of Schmeling in their second encounter.  It is to my great shame I only remembered Louis this late in, my answer, he without a doubt should have placed much higher for his victory over Max that 10th.  Rather than retype this entire answer I will correct the mistake by putting the best fight of all time last and start this answer at number two.  I apoligize to all the Loius fans for my faulty memory, age does take it's toll.

Honorable mentions: Hagler/Hearns, Hagler/Mugambi, Jeff Fenech/Azumah Nelson, Salvador Sanchez/Azuma Nelson

Thanks again for a truly spectacular question.

  6. 1971 fraizer vs. ali, 1973 foreman vs. fraizer, 1974 ali vs. foreman, 1975 ali vs. fraizer, 1981 leonard vs. hearns, 1985 hagler vs. hearns, 1987 leonard vs. hagler, 1996 holyfield vs. tyson, 2000 morales vs. barrera, 2004 barrera vs. morales.

  7. Ali - Foreman

    Ali-Frazier 3

    Gatti-Ward 1

    Gatti - Ward 2

    Gatti - Ward 3

    Foreman - Shavers

    Holyfield - Bowe

    Tyson-Holyfield 1

    Marquez-Vasquez

    Pacqioa - Morales 2

    Pacquioa - Morales 3

    Holyfield - Qawi

    Tyson - Douglas

    DeLaHoya- Mosley

    DeLaHoya - Vargas

    Corrales - Castiejio

man it can go on and on

You can list a shitload of old fighters like Marciano and Lamotta, Dempsey but actually watch the fights they are not as entertaining as Gatti-Ward that has to be the best triolgy in boxing history.

Plus with the old fights you werent their to experience the build up to the fight. So for people who never lived back then to list them as their fav fights....meh I got them all on tape, and if i have buddies over and they say they want to see an awsome fight that will make them a boxing fan. Im not gonna show them Marciano-Walcott, I'm going to show them Gatti-Ward and for inspiration Ali-Foreman.

Rumble in the Jungle Ali vs Foreman in my mind is the best fight of all time because of all the emotion that went with it. The events that surrounded it, that fight transcended the sport, gave hope to Millions of poor Africans, opened the eyes of pessimist and critics, made people believe in the human spirit again.

Hey Blog did you actually see Holyfield-Lewis or Holyfield-Moorer.....not even close to being great fights. Holyfields second fight with Moorer was better then both Lewis fights, h**l I cant imagine myself ever throwing on Lewis -Holyfield for entertainment purpose’s.

  8. aaron pryor - alexis arguello 1

    chavez - taylor 1

    mc guigan - cruz

    ali - frazier 1 & 3

    eubank - benn 1

    hagler - hearns

    leonard - hagler

    leonard-hearns 1

    duran - barkley

    bowe - holyfield 1

all in recent years, all off the top of my head.

  9. Sugar Ray Robinson tko over Jake LaMotta, called the St Valentines' Day Massacre, Marciano ko over Walcott, Joe louis ko Schmeling,Paterson ko Johasson,Ali and Frazier, the thriller in Manilla, Maxim over Robinson in 104 degree heat at Yankee Stadium, Pep and Saddler, Zale and Graziano,
