  6. Patterson ko over Johanson, and Sugar Ray Robinson ko oiver Fullmer with a one punch ko, those are my 2 best ko's, also Jack Johnson over Stanley Ketchel

  7. Thumbs up to toughguy and maurice, I enjoyed reading their lists almost as much as thinking of my own top ten KO's.

The Blogbaba's list of the ten best knockouts of all time reads like this:

    1. Joe Louis/Max Schmeling II.  It was much bigger than just a boxing match, and to this day is clearly the biggest KO in boxing history.  Joe gave the Allies the single biggest propaganda tool in the history of warfare during mankind's most horrific conflict.  The implications of this fight and it's result far transcend mere boxing.

    2. James "Buster" Douglas knocks out Mike Tyson after coming off the canvass to notch quite possibly the single biggest upset in heavyweight history.

    3. Sugar Ray Robinson's perfect left hook got more than Gene Fullmer, Ray nailed Rocky Graizanio with a carbon copy that puts Robinson at number 3 on my list.

    4.  Muhammad Ali/George Forman, nobody though Ali had a chance against George, and had Douglas not exposed Iron Mike, this one would have been the biggest upset in heavyweight history.

    5. Thomas Hearns landed that right hand on more than just Duran, and Pipino Cuevas gets to share Duran's pain, Tommy pulled a page out of Sugar Ray Robinson's book and duplicated perfection, the Hitman comes in at number 5.

    6. Marvin Hagler's KO of Thomas Hearns is in my opinion the best three rounds of boxing I have ever seen.  Any who has seen it understands without having to recap the fight.  Clearly the best of both men, Tommy was never the same after this one.

    7. Jack Johnson's knockout of Stanley Ketchel might have been the most devastating non-fatal knockout in history, with six of Ketchel's teeth being embedded in Johnson's glove, what more needs to be said. It shares the seven spot with Dempsey's destruction of Willard as the most brutal knockouts in history, I couldn't decide which one would represent old school boxing on this list, so they share the spot.

    8. Deigo Corrales coming off the canvass twice to KO Castillo has to share the eight spot with Michael Carbajal's KO of Humberto Gonzales after Michael came off the canvas twice, both were boxing gems that forever immortalized two of boxing's biggest little guys.

    9.  Either of Gerald McClellan's crushing knockouts over Julian Jackson come in at nine.  Jackson was one of boxing's most feared knock out artists, and pound for pound arguably one of boxing's hardest punchers.  McClellan was even better and simply destroyed Jackson both times.

    10.  As unpopular as this one will be, I have to put Julio Cesar Chavez's knockout of Meldrick Taylor on this list, it was an incredible display of perseverance, and elevated Julio from a great fighter to a boxing immortal.  Richard Steele caught a lot of flak for the stoppage, and it was a shocking end to a brilliant performance by Meldrick, but a just stoppage.

It is questions like this that make Yahoo boxing a pleasure, thank you for the memories.  It was amazingly difficult to pick ten out of the many that came to mind.

Honorable mentions:  Salvador Sanchez/Azumah Nelson, Ray Leonard/Duran (no mas), Ali/Frazier III when Eddie Futch stopped Joe from getting off his stool for the 15th round of an epic encounter he sealed Joe's legacy as an all time great,  Joe was willing to die, and Futch knew it, then stopped it from happening.  Gaby Canazales/Miguel "Happy" Lora another Corrales like ko coming off the canvas, and too many more to list.  Great question.

  8. Hearns KO2 Cuevas, Hearns KO2 Duran, Hagler KO3 Hearns, Leonard KO13 Hearns, Curry KO2 McCrory, Chavez KO12 Taylor, Holmes KO13 Cooney, Sanchez KO8 Gomez, Weaver KO15 Tate and Foreman KO2 Frazier

  9. Buster Douglas KO Mike Tyson:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AmPx2ixbh...

Jorge Arce KO Megdoen Singsurat, left hook to body:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHvJXV7Ki...

Rustico Torrecampo KO Manny Pacquiao, straight left to body:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNdhQDD6P...

Many of these Iron Mike KOs will also do, among the most dramatic:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJPN4naBT...

  10. Very tough question as there have been so many great ones over the years.  I'm going to give you a list of ten but in no particular order:

Sugar Ray Robinson KO5 over Gene Fullmer (2nd fight)  Perfect left hook.

Thomas Hearns KO2 over Roberto Duran (possibly the most complete knockout I've ever seen)

Floyd Patterson KO5 over Ingemar Johansson.  Left hook left Johansson out cold with his foot twitching on canvas.

Bob Foster KO4 over d**k Tiger.  Perfectly time punch left Tiger completely out.

Bob Foster KO4 over Mike Quarry.  Quarry bombed as he was coming in.  Out cold!

Rocky Marciano KO13 over Jersey Joe Walcott.  Perfect right hand left Walcott in a heap on the canvas.

Jersey Joe Walcott KO 7 over Ezzard Charles (3rd fight)  Charles caught with perfect shot from Walcott.

Bob Fitzsimmons KO14 over James J. Corbett.  Body shot to the solar plexus made title change hands.

Joe Louis KO4 over Paulino Uzcdun.  Perfect punch from the Brown Bomber left iron jawed Uzcdun in a heap on the canvas.

Julian Jackson KO2 over Terry Norris.  Jackson is well known for his great one punch knockout prowess.

  11. among them would be:

julian jackson ko 4 herol graham, herol was unconscious before he hit the canvas

michael nunn ko 1 sumbu kalambay, surprised everyone.

mike mc callum ko 5 donald curry, minor upset

freddie  pendelton ko 6 roger mayweather

dennis andries ko 7 jeff harding, ending like something out of "rocky" with andries putting everything into a kayo

muhammad ali ko 3 cleveland williams, ali at his peak,

evander holyfield ko 3 buster douglas, begining of the (heavyweight) holyfield era

azumah nelson ko 1 pat cowdell, barry mc guigan was wba champ at the time and that night i feared for his health if he ever fought nelson

george foreman ko 10 michael moorer, george made history that night,

ray robinson ko 5 gene fullmer, textbook.
