Question:

What are the 17th and 38th parallels? ?

I have to label them on a map and I tried looking them up and I have no clue what they are! All I know is that they have to do with Asia. Help please?

  1. 17th parallel is the dividing line between north and south vietnam, and the 38th parallel is the dividing line between north and south korea.

    they're named because the lines are on the 17th and 38th lines of latitude respectively.


  2. It was divided at the 17th parallel because northern Vietnam was communist and southern Vietnam was nationalistic. Until the U.S. came to fight for South Vietnam, it was always nationalistic until southern Vietnam was taken over by the northern and now the whole country is communists.
