What are the 2 ethier connections for on the Direct TV HD DVR box.?

I just had my Direct TV installed with HD DVR and was wondering why there are 2 ethernet connections. I have connected one directly to my network so I can download the on-demand content but there is not alot of info on these features.

  1. The other connection is basically an "ethernet out."  It allows you to pass the ethernet connection through your DVR and connect to another device.
