Could the answer your teacher is looking for be (a) novels and (b) poetry? Could it be (a) fiction and (b) nonfiction? Could it be (a) foreign and (b) domestic? There are a lot more than three genres: romance, sci-fi, westerns, true crime, horror, thrillers, fantasy, etc. etc. Do you have to name any three, or three specific genres?

Not sure what you mean.  Two parts of a certain book or literature in general?

If in general, I would think it would be fiction and non fiction.  If within a book - conflict and resolution?  Sorry, I don't know.

There are too many genres for literature to be classified into just three categories, but I'm going to say drama, tragedy and comedy.

This question is a bit annoying because there really isn't a well defined stucture to literary genres; however,I think you mean classically.
