  1. when you first learn karate they teach you 4 blocks. high block, low block, inside block and outside block. or you can call them inside form, outside form and so on.

  2. It is probably an overhead block.

  3. Down block, high block, under block, and hammer-fist block.

  4. http://www.myspace.com/martialarm offers a training method I have seen at some gyms.

  5. Assuming you are in traditional karate-do, here are the 4 main Ude Uke Waza taught at beginners:

    - Gedan Ude Uke ( Also known as Gedan Barai)

    - Soto Ude Uke

    - Uchi Ude Uke

    - Age Ude Uke

    Hope this helps !

  6. First 3 I was taught: Low block, high block, body block.

Body block is across the body

  7. Are you talking about the forearm block?  If so, that's new to me--I didn't learn those as my first blocks in karate  (the first blocks I learned were the low/down block, high block, and knife-hand block)--but maybe you're in a different karate style than I was in.

Anyway, it does sound like the type of technique is the forearm block. Inside-outside forearm, outside-inside...and I forget the last one.

As for telling you how to do them, it's difficult to explain. You'd have better luck finding it on a youtube video. With a video, you can get the basic idea, and your instructor can correct you if you're doing it wrong.   (just don't try learning everything from video--it's best to learn from the instructor)
