  1. Never thought about it. I think they have had a lot of wars there, ennit?

So they could be like Virginia and have a lot of groovy war museums.

Edit: Oh I was right. I did some research and the prison of Khmer Rouge, and the other Killing Fields are important historical sites.

It looks like they also have native dancing, religious temples, and art museums.

The biggest event is the Festival of Boat Racing.

  2. Fly into Phnom Penh and visit the Toul Sleng Prison, Killing Fields, National Museum, The Royal Palace, Wat Phnom...they have a cool backpackers area on the lake that is fun for a visit.

Then take the bus, Mekong Express is a good one up to Siem Reap...it only costs 10.00 very comfortable, bathroom etc. it takes about 5-6 hours, you'll get to see amazing countryside and how people live, rice fields...then spend at least 3-4 for Angkor Wat and a trip to the floating village of Kompong Phluk...don't do the very local tourist floating village...it's just way toooo touristy. At Kompong Phluk you can hire a small boat to take you into the mangrove forest, very cool...
