  1. - The sun is still going to be there in a few billion years we do not have to worry about the source running out anytime soon.

    - It is a renewable source of energy.

    - Solar cells do not contain any moving parts so maintenance costs are low.

    - Considering the low investments in research and development the returns from advancements have been very good.

    - With continuing support of research and development it is expected to become cost effective compared to other currently used power sources in a few years.

    - They supply power during peek times while people are awake and working.

    - No CO2 gas emissions and reduces the greenhouse effect from energy sector.

    - There is more solar energy that reaches just a small part of the earth in one day than what the global energy industry would produce in a single year.

    - With Liberals mismanagement of solar technology, along with other socially destructive policies, Labour will get in at the next election. This is a positive for Australia that will lead to an accepting of the Kyoto agreement and a more responsible international partner and leader.

  2. No pollution. Free once the initial equipment has been bought. Possible tax credits for initial purchase of equipmt.

Can be installed where no other power source is available.

  3. sola energy is good, is that positive?

  4. Solar energy is renewable, relatively pollution free, and if used to power your personal home many times it will power your home and you can sell the excess back to the grid.  just a side note i have heard that they are currently in development of a new solar panel that will work extremely better at capturing the suns energy.

  5. well, u can save money because of the free energy from the sun. also, it is good in emergencies if u need power, depending on which kind u get.

  6. have you seen those new solar clothes dryers>

    A string between two poles.

  7. It fights global warming.

It reduces dependence on imported oil.

It is useful for something (house, traffic sign, etc.) located where there are no power lines.

Right now, except for the third case above, it's still more expensive than buying power from the power company, even with tax incentives, etc.  When that will change (and it will) is anyone's guess.

So right now the main customers are well off people who want to help the environment and the economy, even if it personally costs them money, and people who don't want the expense of running a power line into the country somewhere.
