  1. I am a Starbucks hater.  Last september I applied for a job at the starbucks near me.  The manager was hiring and was going over applications.  I am someone who graduated from high school and took a cooking class and a meal/food prep. class, and past both classes with an A.  I wrote that down on the application, and it also was on my resume.  I was wearing a bottoned-down shirt and a nice pair of cargo pants.  I was clean, well-dressed, calm and ready to do the job right.

I applied for the job in september.  A week after I handed-in the application, I called about my application.  The manager was unavailable, so I spoke to a worker "who claimed to help with the hiring and the interviewing.  I told her my name, and I told her that I was willing to do the job the right way.  She then was going through the applications, and read my application.  Then on the phone; she told me everything looked good and they probably will call me in for an interview when they start interviewing.  Next she told me that they were gonna start interviewing the first week in November.

The first week of November came, and I didn;t hear anything from Starbucks.  SO the second week of November came, and I called them back.  I spoke to the manager, and what a *********.  She insulted me and got all s****. with me for applying for the job.  SHe then said that she hired people already and get a job somewhere else.

If that's how she treats a job applicant, I wanna know how she treats her employees.

  2. I guess they were hated as being the juggernaut coffee shop. But then their coffee started sucking because they switched from making espresso the traditional way to that machine where you just push the button (and also that terrible Pikes Place drip coffee). Plus it's hard times and less people want to buy  $4 lattes.

  3. People do not have extra money.  That is the big social crisis.  They used to believe they had a nest egg in their house, but are realizing that hard times are here, and more are coming.

No use in sitting in Starbucks sipping a $5.00 cup of coffee trying to ignore reality.

Reply:  Do you not consider ecomonic conditions to be reflective of social will?  -  What are you asking?

  4. People are spending more on necessities like gas, groceries and utilities which makes them have less disposable income to spend on items they feel are luxuries.  It all comes down to choices and right now an expensive cup of coffee is low on the priority list.
