  1. Weathering is the breakdown of surface rocks, minerals and soil in situ ("in place" or "in position").

There are 4 types of weathering, but it consists of mainly only physical and chemical weathering:

    Physical /  Mechanical, which comprises:

    i) Freeze-thaw

    ii) Thermal expansion / Insolationo

    iii) Pressure release

    iv) Hydraulic action

    v) Salt crystal growth

    Chemical, which comprises

    i) Solution

    ii) Hydration

    iii) Hydrolisis

    iv) Oxidation

    v) Carbonation

There are also Biological weathering and Building Weathering, but the essential processes fall between physical and chemical.

Biological may fall under physical weathering when we talk about roots prying rocks apart, or when burrowing animals dig in the soil, weakening its foundation. Acids released by plants, or found in animal waste, may react with the rocks, causing chemical weathering.

Building weathering refers to weathering of man-made structures like concrete buildings and statues through physical and chemical processes. Chemical weathering is more severe in places affected by acid rain.

  2. - Physical or Mechanical

    - Chemical

    - Biological

    - Building

The type of weathering that has something to do with frost is "freeze thaw weathering" or a process called "frost shattering". It is under physical weathering.

  3. physical weathering and chemical weathering are the two left.
