  1. 1)Denial - "This isn't real... it didn't happen."
    2)Anger - "Why me?" - desire to fight the situation
    3)Bargaining - may actually take place befor the loss, "Take me instead."
    4)Guilt - "Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda... "  If I had only done something, this wouldn't have happened
    5)Acceptance, Hope - "I can get through this.  It will be okay."

    I recently lost someone very dear to me less than a week ago.  I had studied the 5 stages in college, but until I actually experienced it, I didn't really understand.  To learn more, check into the Kubler-Ross model.  Good luck with coping!
