What are the \_/^\_/^\_/ squiggly straight marks on the road for?

I don't recognize these markings. It looks like it might a bus lane, but I'm not sure. I would like to know what these are for.

Lines and other markings painted on the pavement are also used to control and direct traffic.

Sometimes these lines will include refl ective raised pavement markers which make the lines more visible, or the markers may be used to simulate the lines...........................

if the lines are white, it may be a bus or a commuter "car pool" type lane.  

If the lines are yellow, it's a no passing zone but the guy driving the paint truck was either drunk or high.
