What are the Advantages and Disadvantages of Unions (Workplace)?

I need to research this for a report, but I am having little luck with finding good information. Thanks for the help.

Pros:  higher pay, benefits, pension, more job security, everybody gets paid the same so no competing against each other.

Cons:  paying dues, might have to travel for jobs, book 1 is for the local members and book 2 is for the traveling members and there may be a lot of names on the books, may take awhile to get a job.
