What exactly are the employee travel benefits for Alaska Airlines employees?

How long do you have to be employed to start using them?

What are the restrictions?

Can you receive any travel benefits as a part time or seasonal employee?

How long do you need to work there until you will receive your travel benefits whether you still work there or not?

If you retire there, can you still receive the travel benefits after retirement?

  1. First, you have a problem.

Alaska Airlines is in a hiring freeze, and is actually reducing employee levels across the board.  Some flights are being cut back as well.

This is happening now.  if you're thinking about looking for a job with them, you will be in line behind a lot of experienced Alaska employees who have already been notified about getting furloughed.

    However, to answer your question.

Travel bennies are called Non-Rev.  For Non-revenue.  As such, you fly on a space available basis.  Sometimes it works well, sometimes it's a nightmare.  As an employee, you, your spouse, and two parents can all fly for free on that basis.

You get six buddy passes a year that you can give to people you know.  They also fly on a non-rev basis, and have to pay only the tax on the ticket.  You can be held responsible for the behavior of those using your buddy passes, so choose wisely.

You can fly a companion with you for free.  For example, if you flew somewhere, and had a friend of relative fly back with you, they go for free as your companion.  Same thing on the return, you have to be with them.

Part time employee's get travel bennies.  All benefits come after your 90 probation has ended, and you're still employed with the company.

You have flight bennies with full retirement.
