Mothers day is coming up and i want to take my mother out to eat. she loves mexican food along with the family. But we dont want to go to a place where the "mexican food" isnt even close to being mexican. I was wondering if there was a place in Los Angeles or near enough that is nice to visit, good service, quality food, and maybe entertainment if possible. thanks will appreciate it. i tried city search already.

  1. El Cholo

  2. El Cholo is nice. Guadalajara Grill is lots of fun. Live Mariachi shows on the weekends (inculding Sundays). It's a tiny bit of a drive away in Baldwin Park, but very close to the freeway. The food is more authentic than others, not stuffy, more like what you'd expect from a family party (if you're looking for that). Also, La Fonda on Wilshire in LA near MacArthur Park (I know, sounds like a bad neighborhood, but it's more upscale than Guad. Grill)..They also have Mariachi playing. Both seat large parties, but again, tomorrow is Mother's Day. Hope this helps.

  3. A real long long wait on Mother's Day at any restaurant....

But one of my fav's is The Gardens of Taxco in West Hollywood.

It is authentic Mexico City food, the waiters recite the menu to you (you dont get to look at one).  The food is excellent! Check thier ratings on any restaurant reviews..   The atmosphere is great and the band walks around taking requests.

Even though in the middle of the city walk Camacho's Cantina would be my second choice... It is great then you can walk off the food and people watch! But again a big wait!

  4. I agree with angeleyes -- Gardens of Taxco is definetly the place to go!!!!  Absolutley delicious, great staff, great authentic mexican food with all the works!
