  1. Jatropha for biocarburant production.

India is currently cultivating 30 million hectares of Jatropha in semi desertic regions to produce around 50 million tonnes of biodiesel...

There will be more than 2000 jatropha trees per hectare instead of waste lands.

  2. the bigger the better but all trees and plants help!

  3. One thing to keep in mind is that if you plant something that is indiginous to your region (you will be able to find that plant grown naturally in your area), it will not have had to be transported there. This is better for the environment because it decreases the need for trucks, etc. to travel the roads with plants that are not grown locally.

For instance, I live in a very humid area, so it is not very smart, cost-effective or efficient for me to buy cacti and plant them around my house. It would be far more productive for me to grow crepe myrtles, loblolly pines and magnolias. The opposite would be true of someone living in, say, New Mexico.

It usually helps to check with your cooperative extension service or the county agent. Hope this helps.

  4. any tree or plant does it but i supose the larger one will help more because they will need more carbon dioxide to suvive

  5. There's a species of azolla fern that grows on the surface of fresh water that helped cool the earth back when the CO2 content of the atmosphere was 4 times what it is now.

It can absorb 6 tons of CO2 per acre per year.

  6. the larger ones.

  7. Paulownia trees are awesome. They grow really fast and give great shade. The leaves are huge and transfer large amounts of carbon dioxide into oxygen. They flower very pretty and the pulp can be used to create ethanol. Yet, when one is cut down, the root system sends up another, so it never need replanting!
