  1. They can grow and cultivate foetus stem cells. I see no objection to stem cell research apart from the bible bashers.

  2. If you believe that an embryo is a human being then experimenting/destroying them is ethically wrong. Roman Catholic Catechism states that, "Human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception".

  3. I'll list pros and cons:

    Pros:

Embryonic stem cells (ESC) are better when it comes to forming the needed to tissue.

And that's about it on the pro side.

    On the con side:

-It is hard to control what ESCs do. One woman had ESCs placed in her cerebellum to help her with Parkinsons, but the ESCs exploded into a tumor growing hair, bone and flesh, which killed her.

-ESCs have cured NOTHING. Adults stem cells (ASCs) have so far cured more than 70 different diseases in human patients; ESCs have not gotten past the lab rats.

-ESCs are often regected by the body. They are foreign, and the patient's body recognizes that they do not belong, and their immunity system attacks it. Many times, adult stem cells meld perfectly, as they come right from the patients' body.

-ESCs result from the compromise of human life.

Personally, I think the saddest of these cons is the statistic that so many people are being cured by ASCs when we are wasting time and money on ESCs, which are getting us no where. People are suffering and DYING while we sit here and pretend that ESCs might one day help, when instead we COULD shift our focus to ASCs and cure more people much more efficiently.

So, basically, ASCs cause no controversy or objection, it is only ESCs. So, why waste time with something that causes controversy and is getting us no where? It just doesn't make sense.

  4. Objections to stem cell research is limited to use of human embryonic stem cells which are derived form the inner cell mass of aborted human embryos. Critics believe that encouraging research in this field is equivalent to killing what could be a potential human being. However, there is also the counter argument that since the foetus has already been aborted, it would not survive anyway.

i dont have any quotes but u can google it n i'm sure u'll find lots. esp form george bush who is quite against US federal funding for stem cell research. California has gone ahead with it though. google shall be ur best friend.. hope i've helped a bit..

  5. Well, to get the best source of stem cells would be from the blood of aborted foetuses.

Aborted foetusese? That's a touchy subject in itself.
