What are the Logical Appeals, Emotional Appeals and Ethical Appeals in a modest proposal ?

any help

i kind of get the logical & ethical appeals but emotional not really

and i have read the text 3 times and took notes but still the mind is not working ?

  1. well, pathos is the appeal that applies to emotions.

    the basics of pathos is just that you are phrasing your words so you are playing to the emotions of the audience. for instance, if a dog dies in a story. you arent just going to write: "the dog died." and then move on. you could do something more like this: "The sweet carmel puppy gazed lovingly up at his owner as he slipped away from the world he had played and romped in with such joy ever since his birth."

    which of those makes you more sad that the dog died? i know you generally arent talking about a dead dog in a proposal, but sometimes it helps to grasp a fictional example before tackling a regular paper. pathos is the little bit of drama that you get to tie in to make your points just that extra bit of dramatic.
