I just got a call from a recruiter about my requirements, I didn't receive the call so this was only told to me, but he said that I needed at least 15 hours of college. Is that true? My only wish is to become a Marine. I cannot get into college because I don't have a home after the 1st of September. Thanks for your time.

  1. no, you just need your high school diploma or GED.

  2. If you are planning on enlisting into the Marine Corps- all you will need is a High school diploma or equivalent (GED). You will also need to take the ASVAB for MOS placement. Any further education is not necessary.

I suggest you call back the recruiter and ask what he was talking about- it could possibly be that the person giving you the message accidentally got it mixed up.

  3. all you need is a high school diploma or GED, be a u.s citizen and be within the health and fitness standards.

  4. nobody has it quite right, 15 hours of college credit will give you rank of pfc upon bootcamp graduation. you must have a high school diploma. While they do accept those with a GED, it is not commonplace, they are trying to weed that out. Recruiting stations are only allowed to enlist a certain amount of people with GEDs in a certain time period. You can earn pfc in other ways as well. To go to boot there are physical standards, and you must get at least a 35 on the ASVAB, but it is easy, dont worry, and you must pass your physical at MEPS. If you had a bachelor degree, it would be suggested to go officer, but no you definetly do not need college experience. Most of the recruits are 18, 19 year old men and women right out of high school. Be ready for boot, because it is NOT easy.
