What are the Mich. requirements for hand rails on home stairs?

Is a hand railing required on the left side, right side, or both sides when going down the stairs?

Handrails in residential projects only need to be on one side. You can pick which side. The handrail needs to be 28-36" above the tread height. It has to be mounted 1-1/2" away from the wall and no wider than 2".
