  1. Hi Hixbaba Oxalá,

As far as I can see, not much.  I live in Ashkelon in the south of Israel, and Hamas and Islamic Jihad launch rockets at least once a week.  In Sderot it is even more frequent - up to 50 in one day.  We have been suffering from these rockets for the last 7 years.

They don't want peace.  They want Israel to be called Palestine and they want all Jewish people out.  That is what they really want.  You can read the answers right here in Y!A.  They can't even type out the name ISRAEL.

    Sincerely,

    Ms. Miche ; })

  2. This is a great question.

Peace needs two willing partners. It is not only the Palestinians who should be  blamed.

Israel has the upper hand  and  can force peace, if it wants it. but does it really want peace that make it lose the West Bank and Eastern Jerusalem?

  3. The Palestinians are willing to give-up their lives for peace for both people..

    Peace is the Palestinian dream.

  4. Tough question. One big problem is Israel holds all the best cards in this game. The Palestinians are not in a position of power, their only real choice is fight on or accept the current situation -which is in their mind the same as surrendering.

Since the Palestinians feel their lives are so messed up they will fight on -they have nothing to lose.

They way things are now Israel can not win. They can not absorb the territories, they can not give them back and settlements can not last. The nation of Israel will be forced into two unthinkable choices either make the Palestinians equal partners in the land or kill them in a horrific genocide. Otherwise this conflict will grind away at Israel. The Christian Kingdoms of Jerusalem that were set up by the Crusaders lasted only a hundred years because of the same continuous civil warfare.

Even if the Palestinians give up their fight and end up living third world existences in the shadow of Israel prosperity or are seen as living in large open air prisons under Israel's control -Israel still loses the fight for hearts and minds through out the rest of the Middle East. It's not just the Palestinians, without a regional peace plan Israel will always be under siege.

  5. It is a great question for both sides.  I think the majorities of Palestinians and Israelis are willing to make reasonable compromises for peace and have come close to signing off on them during the Bill-Clinton years.  I do believe most Israelis will be glad to give up the West Bank and that both side will make face-saving compromises about East Jerusalem that let them both claim they have won.

From my point of view, the leaders on both sides are too frightened of their more radical constituencies to move firmly in this direction.   Israel fears civil unrest when settlers are forced to leave the West Bank.  Palestinians have elected Hamas, against their own interests in negotiating a two-state solution.  All Hamas is willing to do for peace is to have temporary cease-fires, and, in the long run, to drive the Jews from Israel.  In that long run, though, I do not think this is where Palestinians will stand.  Here's hoping.  I do not really know, but I believe that the Palestinians as a whole are more reasonable than the anti-Israelis in this forum who cannot type "Israel".  That the Palestinians as a whole are more reasonable than those who launch rockets at Ms. Miche.

I think Mark is half-right to say that Palestinians are willing to give their lives - Israelis are willing to do the same, and that is the other side of the equation.  If Palestinians were talking about wanting two states again, instead of, as in this forum, talking about Israel not being a legitimate country and about a state from the Jordan to the sea, it would quickly be so.  Nearly every detail has been negotiated in the past.

  6. Talk? That's more than the Israelis are willing to do just to start with...

  7. Nothing, they do not want peace, they want to wipe Israel from the map. Any peace talks are designed to gobble more land concessions from Israel, weakening her. When Israel resists, the anti-semitic UN and other groups say "See, Israel is against peace" (just like the first responder). Israel then either gives in and weakens herself, or resists and gains a bad reputation. Wake up and realize that the only sane, pro-Western nation in the Middle East is Israel and if the USA turns it back on her then we are fools. Israel must not give an inch of land, and talks should only be done when Palestinians publicly denounce terrorist actions and publicly concede the right of Israel to exist.

I am not Jewish, I am a Christian by the way
