well I've seen a whole bunch of tutorials of converting normal batteries to pandora batteries and memory sticks to magic memory sticks on PSP. I was wondering what are those procedures for?

  1. the pandora battery is a normal battery that has a piece removed. This forces the psp into a service mode, whereupon it reads files on the magic memory stick. these files overwrite the flash memory in the psp to install custom firmware

  2. With PSP Pandora Battery, you can unbrick & downgrade any version psp to version 1.5.

    Pandora Battery Preparation

    1. Make sure you have completed the "Memory Stick Preparation" first.

    2. Plug the Memory Stick back in.

    3. ***OPTIONAL *** Run the "Pandora's Battery Creator" program on the PSP and press Triangle "/" to back up the contents of your battery's flash into a file on you memory stick. The program will automatically exit. *Note:* This step is REQUIRED if you want to make this a normal battery again; otherwise it's optional.

    4. Run the "Pandora's Battery Creator" program on the PSP. This prepares the battery. You will not be able to use it normally from now on unless you've taken the optional step above to revert after the fact (should be using a spare so you can keep it around anyways).

    5. You now have a "Magic Memory Stick" and a "JigKick Battery". Proceed to the next section to reflash your PSP.

    you can if you've backed up the contents of your battery's flash into a file on you memory stick; although, this defeats the purpose of having a battery ready for unbricking. That is why you are suggested a spare battery. Freeplay has found some very cheap batteries. Get them while they're still cheap.

    To revert a battery:

        * Take out normal battery

        * Power on PSP with AC adapter only

        * Once XMB comes up, re-insert Pandora battery

        * Run "Pandora Battery Maker" and press L+R to restore the ms0:/eeprom.bin to your battery

  3. The battery comes with the PSP, but if you want another you can get it (if you want to play for longer than 6 hours). If you want to save anything you will need a memory stick. You must have a memory stick not only to save music, video, pictures, but also to save your games. Some games require a memory stick. I recommend getting a memory stick, but not a battery unless you do a lot of traveling.

    The memory sticks are all "Magic Memory Sticks." You can't get another memory stick in the PSP, it has to be the "Magic" one. A Pandora battery is a way of hacking your PSP.
