What are the Pro's and Con's of long distance relationships?

I have been involved with a man I met 7 mos. ago on-line. We have visited each other 2 times and we had a great time together. We want to progress the seriousness of our relationship. I am just totally taken with this man. He is such a sweetheart! Is it possible to fall in love over the internet? The catch is that he lives 7 hours away and we cant see each other often. What are the Pro's and Con's of a long distance relationship? Would you all have a relationship with someone you met online? What do you all think?

It's really easy to fall in love with someone over the internet, but the problem with long distance relationships is that they all too often don't work out.  When there are geographic or other constraints keeping you and your loved one apart, it's a tough situation.  But if it brings you together, it's wonderful.

Pros-When you see each other, it's like the feeling of "falling in love" all over again.

Cons-You don't get to see one another's faces all the time.

You can cheat all you want and your partner has NO way of checking up on you or knowing if you are faithful.

Cons:

I've been in several long-distance relationships, two of them via internet.

Pros:

When you get together, it's more special.

You get your space if you easily feel smothered and don't want someone around 24/7.

You always know how you're spending your vacation.

It broadens your search base for the perfect partner, especially if you have unusual interests and are looking for someone who shares them.

Cons:

Very expensive (phone bills, plane tickets, etc.)

You can get very lonely.

If the other person isn't good at keeping up their end of the communication, it can be very frustrating. (I had two in the pre-Internet days. It was torture waiting for letters to come by snail mail!)

Eventually you'll either have to break up or re-locate.
