The Gambling Commission in the UK carried out the British Gambling Prevalence Survey in 2007.

It found that 65% of the UK population (about 32 million people) have participated in some form of gambling in the past year.

The most popular games were:

- Scratchcards (20%)

- Betting on horse races (17%) and

- Playing slot machines (14%)

Only 6% of people used the Internet to gamble. Out of those, 3% did actual online gaming, and 4% used Internet bookies.
