  1. Depends where you live. In Darwin its over 30 degrees celsius right throughout the year. I live in Perth and the temperatures average about 8 at night and 18 in the day, and it rains a lot during the winter. Sydney is fairly similar to Perth but with less rain, Brisbane is similar to Sydney only the average maximum is about 21. Melbourne, Hobart and Canberra are quite cold daytime maximums average around about 12 degrees and in Canberra the average daily minimum in June and July is below zero, with a snowfall about once every two years on average. In the Australian Alps in south-eastern Australia we have regular snowfall and a thriving skiing industry!

There's a huge list of climate statistics at this website:

  2. in north queensland where i live the weather is excellent this time of year.around 28 to32 during the day 18to11c at night ,the days are warm and sunny, some times it gets down to the low 20s when we have a cold south eastly

  3. comparedto UK, probably warm. depends on where you are looking at, but south is very cold, near zero overnight, areas vary too. Sydney occasionally gets zero but up to 15 or so during the day. The further north you go the warmer it stays.

I know we went to Darwin a few years ago in winter, the locals were complaining it was cold at 18c , at night, we were in t shirts, were from Sydney. So there is a big variance from north to south.

  4. in comparaisn....... a uk summer is like an aussie winter, thats generally speaking!

it does vary from location to location, with the temperature getting colder the further south you travel, and more humid the further north you travel!

  5. Depending where you are.  Up north it is always warm in the winter.  Down south can be quite wet.  Nothing like the UK though.  Temperature around 10C - 20C.  I spent a year there.

  6. In Sydney the temperature rarely drops below 10° C. Trouble is that flats have no heating and little insulation. So after a couple of days, it's 10 ° C inside too!.

  7. born and raised in Australia, i can tell you this "if you dont like the weather, just wait a minute" hahah, thats basically true in the winter months, if you are in Victoria, New south Wales, ACT, South Australia, you will find a little bit of rain, though not much, Australia is afterall in one of the longest droughts in history, the wind can be quite chilly, but not cold enough for snow clothes, a nice warm jacket, some mittens for the mornings, would be sufficient over your regular jumper jeans kind of wear, now if you travel North, up to Queensland, or West to the outback or Western Australia, the weather is warm, not hot, but nice, you could wear a tshirt, and maybe a flimsy jacket/cardigan for the coolness of the nights.  Hope this helps :)

  8. You need to be specific about what part of Australia.

There was one day in 2004 that I actually checked all the temperatures in each State, at the same time, and they varied between -.09°C and 41.2°C.

In NSW in the winter I needed to wear a jacket quite a bit, but up in QLD long sleeve shirts do me for most of the time in winter.  In fact we are in winter now and I am still wearing short sleeve shirts.

In July 2007 (Mid Winter) the coldest overnight in Brisbane went down to 3.9C, and up to 26.7C during the day.  The coldest 9am temp was 11.1C.

Compare that to Melbourne, where the coldest was 2.2C and the warmest 18.2C with the coldest 9am temp being 4.3C and only 10 days were above 10C at 9am.

  9. Our maximums are around 14oC to 24oC and our min (at night when you're in bed) are about 1oC to 10oC depends where you are.

I live in the Pilbara which is in the lower northern part of Westren Australia and it's absolutlely beautiful. We're in winter now and most days are clear and about 20oC to 29oC. Night's are colder. But in summer it is around 45oC some days. You get use to it. If the temperature is around 37oC most of us feel comfortable outside. One day was last summer was 49oC that was fun some of the kids across the road cooked eggs on the road and they actually cooked. I don't know if they ate them we had a good laugh. We spent all day in our pool with our foating esky.
