  1. When you see those symbols (like e*****2) for the high bidder, on the auction page, you only see them with auctions that are still active. Once ended, you only see the name of the winning bidder.

This new system is actually lowering the final price of the bids because the auctions are now viewed as not honest.

If you click on any auction with MORE than one bid, and go to the bidding history page, you will read eBay's latest hair brain idea--hiding the names of the bidders.

On that page it says:   To help keep the eBay community safe, enhance bidder privacy, and protect our members from fraudulent emails, eBay has changed how User IDs display on the bid history page. Only you and the seller of the item can view your User ID, all other members will see anonymous user IDs, such as x***y.

It only encourages shill bidding so what YOU have to learn to do is SNIPE your bids.  When looking at an auction that has several bids in the history, be especially careful if the feedback number behind the hidden name has less than 10 feedbacks--and RUN if there's only one or NONE! That could be a shill bid making you bid higher.

One of my favorites to use to snipe is the first link. It is FREE for 5 auctions a week and a small fee if you use it more. It will place your bid (and it should be your ONLY bid) about 5 seconds before the auction ends. Just make sure you put in a HIGH bid you can live with and make it an interesting amount such as: $101.56 instead of (for example) $100.00.

Hope you win--and get a great deal too!
