I am was watching television and then a commercial comes on about the people in Darfur and how we should all pitch in to help. What about the celebrities? How much do they donate? I see them flying all around in their private jets and 30-man entourages with their million dollar mansions, but yet they want me to donate my time and money to their cause? Please. They can go to Darfur for their photo ops because they have the money and time to do so, but meanwhile here in the real world, the working man is having enough trouble making it working 8 hours a day for a couple of grand. I would actually like to know how much of their money and assets go to their own causes. Also, why not help the people in their own country first. I see people walk around my streets all day with no food or clothes and no one offers them anything. C'mon George and Brad, come to my house so I can show a hard luck story.

  1. Hollywood has a long history of using third world misery for self promotion. Ignore them, that's what I do. How can you give any credence to people who believe in scientology?

  2. If you believe in personal choice, then you should consider why it troubles you when a rich person donates money and effort to a foreign cause.

Apparently Brad and Angelina have given a lot. Here is one example where they have donated $100,000 to build a clinic in Sudan. Undoubtedly that sum that will go far there; the clinic is to serve 150,000 people.

The article refers to a Jolie-Pitt foundation, so if you are still wondering about the size of their largess, you may want to search for specific info on this charity.

  3. It's all about camera time.  Crying for all these foreign people is the "in" thing to do.  It's easy to buy (adopt) a flock of "disadvantaged" kids when you can afford to have nannies to do the bulk of the work.  This must give them some sort of higher status among the crowd they hang with.  My opinion of them drops when they do that c**p.  For those born and raised in America, there are plenty of very worthwhile causes right here that could use the kind of attention they take overseas.  But, I suppose it's hard to broaden your worldwide fan base if you stay in the states.

  4. All of these just for the sake of publicity..good publicity and at the same time good in the box office,.and regarding to their donations,oh my gosh!!some of them not even giving tips. And the commercials do you think they dont have a talent fee for a fifteen minute exposure???come on'' a good humanitarian never needed a publicity!!

  5. Your statement is valid, millionaires and celebs asking the average American for money, sounds hypocritical.  But, they feel that they voices may be able to raise more money than their own dollars could.  Most of them do contribute, but of what amount only they can disclose if they choose to.

Of all of them, I appluad Warren Buffet, even if he isnt much of a "celebrity".  He donated over $200 BILLION last year for charity and help in foreign countries.  Thats probably more money than will ever go to Darfur.  So, they do help, just maybe not in the way we want.  But, after a while, I agree the ads are kinda hypocritical, you have to pay money for that ad, why dont you spend it in Darfur???

  6. Well, I don't know about Clooney, but Pitt is basically attached to Angelina Jolie, who has done quite a bit of charity work. Not to mention their four kids and successful careers.
