What are the advantages and disadvantages of headers?

I am trying to figure out if I should put headers on my truck and want to know the negatives and positives of headers. Thank You for any information you can give me!

i put headers on my 05 g35 and it added about 27 horse power .. headers take the exhaust directly from you engine and feed it to your catalitic converter and from there it goes through your pipes and out the muffler.. some people run "open headers" this means no catalitic converter and it is extremly loud but offers most hp gains and is illegal .. to answer your question simply unless your going to race your truck it would be a waste of money.. its a truck its already got enough horse
