  1. Advantages:

-They are typically cheaper, less toxic, and work better in the long run than prescriptions

-They work to help the cause of the problem, not just cover up the symptoms like prescriptions do

-They are natural and often have next to no side effects, warnings, or cautions because of that

    Disadvantages:

-They typically take longer to work than prescriptions (nature of the beast)

-Since they are natural, some of them smell/taste like c**p (some herbs just reek)

  2. the advantages it works way better than pills that make you a zombie. I can funtion go  to town to the store many other things know what month it is what week out to eat & go inside. I can't do those things on the meds. the doctors want me to take. The disadvantages going to jail if you get caught with it.

  3. The Pros

In regard to a number of herbs, the advantages will outweigh the disadvantages. The pros of herbal medicine in most cases include:

    • Accessibility. Of all the advantages and disadvantages of herbal medication, this is one of the biggest positives. Finding herbal remedies is very simple. From local drug and grocery stores to online outlets, it is very easy to obtain herbal medication for the treatment of just about any symptom imaginable.

    • Effectiveness. While this advantage doesn’t go across the board, many remedies have been proven time and again to help.

    • No chemicals. Unless herbal medications are mixed with other ingredients during processing, they are considered all natural. Of the advantages and disadvantages of herbal medication, this is one of the pros that appeals to many.

    The Cons

While herbal medications do have some very big perks, there are a few cons to watch out for. These include:

    • Failure to have conditions checked out. In some cases, people turn to herbal remedies to treat symptoms without really knowing what they are dealing with condition wise. If there is any question as to what is causing a physical symptom, medical attention might be in order.

    • Purity. While reputable supplement makers do not face this issue, there have been some problems in the past with purity of some herbal medications. Users can avoid this by either buying herbs themselves or seeking out well known companies to purchase their supplements from.

    • Dosing. In some cases, the dosing of herbal medications can be a little tricky to get down. Read labels very carefully and err on the side of caution.

The advantages and disadvantages of herbal medication tend to weigh in favor of their use in most cases. Before taking a supplement, however, it is wise for people to know what they are taking, what it is supposed to do and what its potential side effects might be. Herbs can be very effective, but they are not a panacea.
