Ok so I have heard a lot of nice things about Drum Corps International( great experience, more music knowledge, gets you a name) . .but before I audition or join . .I was wondering is there any disadvantage? I have noted some on my own

1. You have to provide your own transportation and pay for the audition fees and bring your own equipment( any financial aid available?)

Are there any other things that I need to be aware of before auditioning?

  1. Well I have never been in DCI but the people that worked for my marching band have. It is a god load of hard work and that is pretty much your new family for a few months. One guy had a trumpet solo but got pissed at one of the male colorguard punched him int he face and then was not allowed back so I suggest not doing that. But if you love music I say go for it, it will be the experince of a life time.

  2. hey i just went to a workshop where i got to meet the cadets and learned about how they live. if you do decide to join DCI, be ready for the WORK!!! those people sleep like 3 hrs a day. they have one day off a month and are constantly working. when i saw the cadets, it was at high school, and they had blow up matresses and were sleeping in various rooms of the school. i don't want to discourage you, if you want to do this, than good luck!!!!!!!!
