  1. advantages - great life experience, some programs aren't very accredited, it greatly depends on where you go.

disadvantages - cultural differences may affect how much you learn, away from your family and friends.

If you are asking for and opinion, I would go for it.  It's a great ife epxerience and it'll look good on a resume.  It shows you are independent and can handle yourself in a different environment

  2. To me, the main advantage is that you learn to question your assumptions about the way things work in the world.  In addition, when else in your life will you have four months to spend really getting to know another country?  You have an opportunity to learn another language, to learn about various sites and then see them, and to further develop your independence.

Disadvantages - it can be harder to find a schedule which will allow you to graduate on time.  Also, you probably won't be able to work while you are abroad, so there is an opportunity cost associated with not being able to hold down a part-time job.

  3. The main advantage is that you will widen your horizons immeasurably.    You cannot put a price on the head of the kind of life experience you will get by immersing yourself in a different culture.

One disadvantage may be homesickness but on the whole going abroad for any amount of time is a good thing.
