  1. Great way to save power and preserve reasources. But it may be a bit unsitely and it may not be the most efficent use of your money (I would assume solar producing sources would be hard to come by money wise because they are not mass produced as frequently, and most poeple just assume not using them will work). If your going to go for all solar power, then get power saving appliances, that way you help the solar panels that help you.

  2. well, it saves energy and protects the earth, i guess.

but when the sun's not out, or if it's rainy for a while, then you have no energy.

  3. The solar panels are extremely expensive and if you were to have one that would power a city, it would probably be the size of 4 foot ball fields. For municipal use, such as in a household, solar power saves a lot of money and is the only energy resource without the emission of dirty water or biproducts.

  4. Current solar panels can only turn about 10% of the sunlight that hits them into usable energy.  Plus they shut down from sunset to sunrise.  For this reason it would take enough solar panels to cover the entire state of Connecticut to convert the USA's electrical system into a 100% solar energy based system.

  5. I have learned that they are really quite energy savers. The Indianapolis area is starting to use solar panels on street lights now. I know that it doesn't really matter if the sun is out or not because the panels save the energy from, the sunny day before and use it later. It also saves the enviorment. The bad thing is that it might be a bit expensive!

  6. advantage is clean power that doesn't use natural resources, and as long as there is a battery bank, there are no power outages,

Disadvantage is the cost of buying a system the right size for your needs. There is also wind energy, I have been off the grid for 5 years I use a hybrid system of wind and solar.
