What are the advantages/disadvantages of having an online newsletter?

as opposed to having a regular paper newsletter? I am thinking about starting one while i'm in college, but i don't know which way to go.

An online newsletter has tremendous advantages over print. You can reach a very broad audience instantly with very little production cost. Plus, with an online newsletter, your recipients do most of the work in terms of giving you contact data.
