  1. It's just fun to find out what major populations you are related to. There no advantage or disadvantage to you personally - and you'll be added to the database to help them along with their mapping of humanity.

  2. There are only advantages with having your DNA analyzed, it is very interesting and can be quite surprising. If you are serious, I would advise that you look at more than one company, compare prices for the test that you have in mind, and check out what they offer apart from the test. The largest and longest established company is to be found at

http://www.familytreedna.org  I used them for my own Y-DNA and Mtdna tests, you can, if you wish, join a project which is researching your name, or a variant of it, and get a discount on all your testing, you also have your own private page where all your data is recorded, and they are very approachable by email. FTDNA also keep you informed of any new types of test that may become available in the future, it is a comparatively new science and is evolving all the time, but a basic test will tell you from whereabouts you most probably originated.

  3. I got really excited about that...until I realised I had to pay. F*ck that lol

  4. you find new and interesting facts about were u originate from but then you also may find out that most of the new people you find are dead!

  5. read the seven sisters of eve - it blows you mind!!!

non-fiction shows proof that all people can be traced to seven women - cant remember the authors name sorry - but fantastic book - hmmm that reminds me to retrieve it from the person I lent it to
