What are the advantages of a traditional letter compare to email?

A traditional, hand written letter is much more personable than an email- its a physical item that is usually recieved by post mail. An email is displayed on a screen and unless printed out, is not physical at all. You can change the font on an email, as well as spell check, but email just isnt a personal way to contact someone.

In addition, a traditional letter has more effort put into it- right now I am just typing keys on a keyboard- I am not writing, I am typing.

A traditional letter is more formal.  It is a bit sharper looking and makes it look like you really took time drafting it.  YOu can also put it on company letterhead.  If need be, you can send it registered so you know the person received it and you have proof of it.

E-mail is faster, you can get the point across and in a lot of industries, is the standard now.
