What are the advantages of having Direct Tv vs. regular Cable Tv??

Question

Yesterday, we had Direct tv (satellite) installed in four television sets at home. We had Warner Cable before. I was satisfied with that, but my son insisted that satellite or direct tv would be the best.

I see sooo many movies, about 300 of them, but Cnn, and the other station favorites from regular cable are all different now and widely spaced apart. Is it that I'm having a hard time adjusting or is Direct TV over rated??

You have more channels and movies and you're complaining?  Learn to use the guide and it becomes apparent which is superior.  There are 2 lists of channels you can set to filter the channels on the guide just to the ones you want.  I have a shorter best of list and then another for all of the usable channels I might watch, which still isn't the full list of all including pay per view, foreign language, or xm radio.  

It doesn't sound like you ordered HD - you will really see the advantage satellite has over cable with HD available channels.

Back to the guide: the ability to search for a show or game or movie is really helpful.  If you press info for a selected program in the guide, and showings - you can see all of the other times the show will be on (which for a standard receiver is only 3 days out, but the HD/DVR receiver has 2 weeks loaded - which helps).

Well, your son has the right idea anyway :o)

Ofcourse the channels are goign to be different.

But Direct TV is awesomeeeeeee.
